Opus Mare's Tail®
The Mare's Tail coalescer technology was developed to meet a recognised need from the industry for an efficient, cost effective technology to coalesce small oil droplets into larger ones, and thus improve removal of oil from produced water.
Opus developed the Mare's Tail coalescer with major oil company support. It coalesces oil droplets to a size where they can be more efficiently removed by existing de-oiling technologies such as hydrocyclones, settling tanks and degassers. Resistant to plugging, easy to inspect and re-load, the technology is proven following rigorous testing at the Opus Test Facilities and on client's Production Platforms. The Mare's Tail is a cost effective means to achieve OSPAR targets.
The technology can be easily retrofitted into existing installations or fitted as part of a water treatment package for a new installation. The Mare’s Tail technology offers a number of key benefits to the end-user, including:
